Conditions of Carriage

Last Updated: May 2026

These General Conditions of Carriage form the basis of your contract with Air Asia Express. They apply to all flights operated under the Air Asia Express designator code. By confirming a booking, you agree to be bound by these rules and regulations.

1. Tickets and Itinerary

The Ticket or Itinerary/Receipt constitutes prima facie evidence of the contract of carriage between you and us.

  • Validity: The Itinerary/Receipt is only valid for the passenger(s) named and the flight(s) specified therein.
  • Identity Verification: You must present a valid government-issued photographic identification (e.g., Passport, National ID card) matching the name on the booking at check-in and boarding.
  • Non-Transferable: Bookings cannot be transferred to another person.

2. Fares, Taxes, and Fees

Fares apply only for carriage from the airport at the point of origin to the airport at the point of destination.

  • Inclusions: Fares do not include ground transport services between airports and town terminals.
  • Taxes: Any tax, fee, or charge imposed by government authorities or airport operators must be paid by you at the time of booking.
  • Currency: Fares and charges are payable in the currency prescribed in our published fares unless otherwise specifically agreed by us.

3. Baggage Allowances

You may carry a limited amount of Baggage without additional charge, subject to our conditions and limitations.

  • Cabin Baggage: You are allowed one main piece of cabin baggage and one small personal item. Total combined weight must not exceed 7kg.
  • Checked Baggage: Checked baggage fees apply based on your fare class. Baggage exceeding the pre-booked allowance will be charged an excess baggage fee at the airport.
  • Right to Refuse Baggage: We reserve the right to refuse carriage of any baggage that contains prohibited items, dangerous goods, or items not properly packed.

4. Schedules and Flight Cancellations

We will use our best efforts to carry you and your baggage with reasonable dispatch, but published schedules are not guaranteed.

  • Schedule Changes: If we change the flight schedule significantly (by more than 3 hours) and you find it unacceptable, you may choose to be re-accommodated on the next available flight or receive a travel credit/refund.
  • Cancellations: In the event of a cancellation due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., extreme weather, air traffic control restrictions), our liability is limited to providing an alternate flight or a refund of the unused portion of the ticket.

5. Refusal and Limitation of Carriage

We may refuse to carry you or your baggage if we reasonably determine that:

  • Such action is necessary for reasons of safety or security.
  • Your conduct, age, mental or physical state requires special assistance which we cannot reasonably provide, or causes discomfort to other passengers or crew.
  • You have failed to comply with our instructions or the instructions of airport authorities.
  • You have not paid the applicable fare, taxes, fees, or charges.
  • You do not have valid travel documents for your destination.

6. Liability and Claims

Our liability for damage to baggage or personal injury is subject to the rules and limitations of the Warsaw Convention or the Montreal Convention, where applicable, or local laws for domestic flights.

  • Baggage Claims: Any claim for damaged baggage must be made in writing within 7 days of receipt of the baggage. For delayed baggage, claims must be made within 21 days.
  • Exclusions: We are not liable for damage to fragile, perishable items, or valuable items (e.g., money, jewelry, electronic devices) packed in checked baggage.
